Habicht's armoire.

  • Dimensions (outside):
    • Height: 82"
    • Width: 70"
    • Depth: 24.5"
  • This furniture is held together by design to use wood shims and friction. It can thus be completely disassembled and reassembled without tools, nails, screws, etc.
  • The only "hardware" are the locks and latch holding the doors closed, and hinges.
  • At some point in the (distant?) past, someone thought it a good idea to paint the inside a muted color. Subsequently, someone (a generation ago?) repainted the inside a cheery red.

Inside has been painted when it was still in Switzerland.
Use the hidden keyhole behind a sliding inlay, with an old-style solid key, to open the armoire.

Two different photos of the same lock, as seen inside the armoire.
The latch which secures the left-hand door of the armoire.

Two close-up examples of the inlaid work, with Oliver's hand for scale.
